Mark A. Jones
AmeriFirst Home Mortgage
Determination, dedication and devotion for creating a company that does business “the right way,” Mark Jones, along with his business partner Dave Gahm, founded one of Michigan’s most enterprising mortgage banking companies, AmeriFirst Home Mortgage.
After starting in mortgage banking in the early 80’s, Mark was enthralled by the complexity that went into making a mortgage come to life. Soon he became excited with the whole process and knew this was his life’s passion. It’s because of this passion that Mark pursued his dream of leading a thriving mortgage company. This passion is what keeps him pushing forward, never allowing mediocrity as an acceptable option.
With over 30 years of experience, Mark continues to guide AmeriFirst through a period of record production levels and continual growth. Through his remarkable foresight, Mark gears his company toward maximizing potential opportunities and minimizing setbacks. Under Mark’s leadership AmeriFirst has been recognized by INC magazine as one the fastest growing privately held companies in America for the past four consecutive years.
Mark’s exceptional work ethic, empathetic nature and unquestionable desire to see AmeriFirst to the top are apparent in his day-to-day grind. These qualities make him the ideal president for a company looking to expand and become one of the most respected and iconic mortgage banking companies in the country.
Mark not only receives recognition from his peers as an outstanding president, but along with his business partner Dave Gahm, was a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Community involvement and enrichment is very important to Mark and he contributes by serving on various boards and committees ranging from Southwest Michigan First, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, March of Dimes and The Boys and Girls Club.
Mark was born in St. Joe, Michigan and at the age of 11 moved to Lansing. This Michigander then took off to Virginia pursuing a great collegiate scholarship opportunity where he competed as a springboard diver. Today, some of his greatest joys come from being with his wife and three kids. Their favorite times spent together as a family are skiing out west, winters in Marco Island, Florida, traveling, or just sipping fine red wine while grilling on their back deck at home in Kalamazoo.
